Here is a collection of some amazing pieces of Rutilated Quartz (chemical makeup is mostly titanium) and Lodalite (otherwise sometimes referred to as landscape quartz displaying rutile and chromium chloride).

Found mostly in Brazil, many of these specimens I share in this video have what’s known as a rutilated star, a six-rayed star pattern. The quite uncommon occurrence is owed to the ability of the lapidarist to be able to orient and cut the rock crystal in such a way that the Star is isolated.
To see the star, you will notice that the golden rutile needles are formed in rays that jut out in all directions, reminiscent of a star.

These needles grow off of a base of hematite. Rutilated quartz is existing in nature already, and then the quartz grows around it and envelopes it.

Rutile needles can be golden yellow, metallic red, gray, or reddish-brown. When the needles are black it is known as tourmalinated quartz due to the black needles being black tourmaline.

For additional information on Rutilated quartz and stars which is presented in an easy to understand manner, please read this article from the JCK, an authority on the jewelry industry.https://www.jckonline.com/magazine-ar.... As well, I highly recommend consulting with Mindat, another leading resource authority in the world that shares information and images on minerals and their locations deposits and mines.https://www.mindat.org/min-3485.html .
