Our three modern post and beam systems.

The first and most basic post and beam systems shown here will provide a modern timber system without the added cost of the technical joinery. Engineering requirements may include metal straps, brackets and mechanical fasteners that are not shown.

During the past couple of years we have refined our post and beam systems and the 4square™ technique has become the most sought after. As shown here the patented interlocking dovetail system creates a positive hold that locks all of the horizontal beams together. Combine this with an integral mortise and tenon connection at each posts and you have a modern self locking system that often exceeds north american engineering requirements. In specific situations lag bolts may be required for a possessive hold.

Our final system is the time honored technique known as timber framing. This is the most technically demanding system that incorporates the traditional mortise and tenon joinery with interlocking hardwood pins to provide the positive hold. For the timber frame purist this system can be built without any steel connections or mechanical fasteners. However, the intricacy and demanding accuracy of a timber frame come at an added cost. Often close to 50% more then the previously shown 4Square™ system.
