Hey BushTV Crew!

I am pleased to be able to share this special story featuring Mia from Santa Teresa NT and how we're incorporating Ngangkere into our remote men's health culture camps.

Remote Aboriginal men experience higher rates of mental health issues than other Australians; with deaths from suicide twice as high; hospitalisation rates for intentional self-harm 2.7 times as high; and rates of high/very high psychological distress 2.6 times as high as for other Australians.

Social, historical and economic disadvantage contribute to high rates of physical and mental health problems, high adult mortality, high suicide rates, child removals and incarceration rates, which in turn lead to higher rates of grief, loss and trauma.

Research shows the single greatest factor to failing Aboriginal health policy is the lack of culturally centered geo-focused programs.

That's why I'm the ambassador for these men's health bush camps. I'm standing with my countrymen and lending my voice to change the stats and be a part of closing this gap.
