শারদীয় দুর্গোৎসবের পুণ্যলগ্ন শুভ মহালয়ার আজ দ্বিতীয় দিন। প্রথমা — থেকেই শুরু দেবীপক্ষের। প্রথমা থেকেই চাঁদ বড়ো হতে শুরু করে এবং লক্ষ্মী পুজোর দিন পূর্ণিমায় পরিণত হয়। মহালয়া মানেই ৬ দিনের প্রতীক্ষা মায়ের পূজার। আর ষষ্ঠীতে দেবীর চক্ষুদান করা হয়।
