We found these boards on the side of the road. They are pine, but older growth and where nailed together at the faces, so assuming there were old joists or beams from a house.

We decided to use these to make the frame for our daughters queen size bed.

The box joints are purely decorative, and are a bit ugly, but work with the rustic design and material that is full of nail holes.

Finished with 3 part varnish (poly/mineral spirits/boiled linseed oil)

Came out great, is sturdy and fit perfect.
enjoy!
