From the first promotional material for Inside Out 2, fans of the franchise were introduced to Riley’s new emotions, especially the surprising personification of Anxiety. It’s not uncommon for young teenagers and adults to experience a spike in general and social anxiety, especially as they experience changes involving puberty, changing schools, and making new friends. Anxiety becomes the primary antagonist in the film, negatively influencing Riley’s decisions and forcing her to abandon her morals to try and manipulate how her future in high school may end.
