Britny Virginia is an international poet, writer, self-published author, director/producer of film and theatre and an international creative workshop facilitator. Born with Cerebral Palsy, Britny uses her passion for the arts and her own lived experience to ensue confidence in others who have similar experiences as herself. Her work centres around disability, culture and faith. She has worked with the likes of Graeae Theatre Company, Crown Boys Mentoring Jamacia Project, Queen's Theatre Hornchurch, RISE Collective, St. Lucia Youth Development and Sports, and Greenwich Docklands International Festival to name a few. She is currently in post-production for her short film 'Dancing Shoes', a semi-biographical tale about disability joy representation, reggae music and faith. This film is supported by a small seed commission and mentorship program by Revoluton Arts and the recipient of the Grand Plan £1000 grant. She is also writing a full-length play exploring dance culture in the Caribbean, movement, disability and faith, with the central character being the first disabled Carnival Queen Contestant. This play was supported by the Arts Council DYCP and Criptuc Arts. And finally, she is writing her second volume of an anthology of poems. She hopes to change the world one story at a time.
