Students at Chuka Girls School are currently at home following the indefinite closure of the school as the secondary school teachers strike persists. The students were sent home following a standoff between Kenya Union of Post-Primary Education Teachers and the school’s principal. . The conflict erupted when KUPPET members, led by Tharaka Nithi County KUPPET secretary Patrick Gitonga, stormed the school demanding dialogue with the Principal over alleged highhandedness.
