Get a glimpse of the International Fall Gathering 2023, a yearly event hosted by Female Science Talents as part of the Falling Walls Science Summit. On 7 November, our flagship event put a spotlight on Gender Parity and Diversity as Accelerators for Social Progress together with early-career researchers from the Intensive Track, partner networks, female leaders and experts. We gathered our vibrant and interdisciplinary community to exchange ideas, learn from one another, while delving into crucial discussions on gender equality in science, technologies, leadership, and diplomacy. The day concluded with the inaugural award ceremony for the Women Breakthrough Award 2023, a joined initiative of Female Science Talents and the Elsevier Foundation.

Our guest speakers included: Dr. Asmeret Asefaw Berhe (U.S. Department of Energy), Mirit Eldor (Elsevier), Dr. Isabel Skierka (ESMT Berlin), Juliane Beck (University of St. Gallen), Cat Allman (Digital Science), Prof. Geraldine Rauch (TU Berlin), Prof. Rana Dajani (Hashemite University), Kathryn Boyd (British Embassy Berlin), Dr. Effrosyni Chelioti (Helmholtz Association), Alexandra-Gwyn Paetz (Berlin University Alliance), Vera Grossmann (Foundation Medicine) and Prof. Gertraud Stadler (Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin).

The Women Breakthrough Award Winners 2023 are: Marwa Shumo & Atinuke Chineme (Innovation Category), Sudeshna Das (Gender Mainstreaming Category) and Simangele Shakwane (Empowerment Category).
