Pinstripes of the Past: On October 1, 1949, the New York Yankees held "Joe DiMaggio Day" at Yankee Stadium. On this day, Joe famously proclaimed "I want to thank the Good Lord for making me a Yankee." Many years later, a sign with his famous quote was hung inside the stadium and was a favorite of Derek Jeter. This sign was given to Jeter in 2009, after he surpassed Lou Gehrig's record for the most base hits by a Yankees player.
