A quick look at some titles I loaded on some old Acer C740 Chromebooks that were Linuxified using MrChromebox's coreboot firmware replacement procedure. I then performed a minimal installation of Xubuntu 22.04 LTS, made some fixes specific to Ubuntu-based distros and this model of Chromebook, and started loading some fun, old school, PC LAN games.

MrChromebox's website is here: https://mrchromebox.tech/

More details of my procedure are documented here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1p...

Generally speaking, my favorite freeware and shareware titles for old school game LAN partying are...

Bitfighter, BomberClone, Bontago, Castle-Combat, Crack Attack!, Cultris, Doom95 (shareware version), Duke Nukem 3D (shareware version), MegaGlest, OpenRA, Quake (shareware version), Quake 3 Arena Demo, RecWar, Soldat, SuperTuxKart, Teeworlds, U61, Warzone 2100

My favorite commercial releases, which I bought multiple copies of to be legit. eBay for the win there...

Call of Duty 4, FlatOut, FlatOut 2, GTA San Andreas (for playing SA-MP), Quake (for playing awesome mods, like KQP, Air Quake, and Quake Rally)
