On Saturday, September 9th, 2023, the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum celebrated their 62nd year of existence. They would operate both of their ex-Southern Railway steam locomotives on two Missionary Ridge Local trains with a couple double header runs in the evening. Several rather nice and welcomed changes to #630 were the added white walls on the pilot and drive wheels, the white pole pockets, and the red cab roof. A nostalgic callback to #630's excursion career in the 70's and 80's.
While I was unable to make it to TVRM before the 1:30pm run due to staying up with some friends the previous night after work, I did manage to get the last 2 Locals before the doubleheader runs. Note that this marks the first time these two steam locomotives have done a doubleheader in four long years. I hope y'all enjoy!
