If you have never done peyote stitch, never fear. This peyote-based necklace teaches how to start peyote, increase or decrease seed bead sizes to create a curve, and how to tie off thread and sew through the peyote piece.

1. Thread a needle with 5 feet of DragonThread and place a stop bead on your thread. Add to your thread the first 2 rows of your peyote stitch using 30 Delica beads. turn the thread and start to sew toward the stop bead to create the 3rd row of peyote stitch.

2. After completing the 3rd row of the peyote stitch, create a 4th row with the Delica beads. Next, watch the Graduated Peyote Fan necklace to see the order to add the different sizes of beads as well as the fringe after finishing the peyote piece.

3. After finishing the pendant section, add on the BeadTec knotting thread to make the sides of the necklace. Tie off the knotting cord and burn down the edges after creating a loop on one side and tying on a button on the other.

The Graduated Peyote Fan Necklace is a great introduction to the possibilities and techniques of this bead weaving stitch. After learning the stitch in detail and how to count the rows of peyote, decorate the fan with fringe beads and the length of your choice. This modern seed bead look is sure to be a new favorite way to use up small quantities of beads!
