This honour came as a result of the substantial contributions to the area of music that Randy and the other members of the Eagles had made over the course of their respective careers.

In the years leading up to the formation of the Eagles in 1971, Randy was a member of the bands Poco and Rick Nelson's Stone Canyon Band, serving as their bassist in both groups. This occurred before the Eagles started their professional careers.

He'd made it to the ripe old age of 77.
