In this video, I will be talking about the book “Divine Rivals” by Rebecca Ross.

I received this copy of “Divine Rivals” in an owl crate box several months ago. I added it to my ever growing TBR, and decided that I would get to it eventually. I started seeing so much about this book on Instagram and decided that I needed to prioritize reading it. I wish that I had read it sooner!

This is the story of Iris Winnow, who is a reporter in a time of war. She is initially trying to beat her rival, Roman C. Kitt, to earn a columnist position at the Oath Gazette. After her brother enlists, Iris moves to the front lines to report on the war with the hope of finding him.

Iris has been using a magical typewriter to communicate with a person that she thought was her brother. She quickly learns that the letters that she has typing have not been delivered to her brother, but someone else entirely.

I really loved the world that Rebecca Ross created in this Duology. She gave pieces of information over time, which helped the story progress. She did a great job of creating a balance between expressing the sorrow and fear that come with conflict, and small moments of joy. I DEVOURED this book, and highly recommend it!
