Madame’s craving (French: _*Madame a des envies*_) is a 1906 film starring and directed by    • Alice Guy   and produced by Gaumont.

Synopsis . (0:06) A pregnant woman (Alice Guy) can't resist her cravings: she steals a lollipop from a little girl (0:36), absinthe from a café customer (1:44), a herring from a beggar (2:45), and even a cigar from a peddler. The desperate husband chases after her, pushing their baby in a pram. When they reach a field of cabbages (3:55), the lady falls into it, and as her husband leans over to help her up, the baby she was carrying is born.

Alice Guy revisits the theme of babies found in cabbages, which was the origin of the success of her very first film made ten years earlier (and launched the production of Gaumont), as well as its two remakes:    • La Fée aux Choux (1900) Alice Guy   and    • Sage-femme de première classe (1902) ...  .
This time, she introduces a close-up shot, which was still rarely used at a time when actors were always filmed in full body shots. This close-up of the actress exaggerating her cravings allows for double emphasis, adding more to the scene, as the aim is to provoke laughter from a still inexperienced audience and sell copies to fairground exhibitors in a context of increasing competition among different catalogs of film suppliers.
