This is a step by step guide / tutorial on how to undervolt your Nvidia GPU. It requires you to have a Pascal or newer Nvidia video card.

Undervolting does NOT damage the hardware. It can cause instability if your overdo it. But the worst-case scenario is a game/benchmark lock-up or a BSOD. In which case you will just have to reboot your PC and everything will be fine, at stock setting.

Why undervolt your GPU?
- lower GPU temps;
- lower power usage;
- better performance in certain scenarios;

Basically, it's a way to make your GPU more efficient. And best of all, it's free!


We'll be using only free software:
- MSI Afterburner;
- HWiNFO;
- Any spreadsheet software like Excel or Google Sheets;
- 3D Mark Time Spy;
- Unigine Heaven;

I've been using an MSI GTX 1050 Ti in this video, and even on this low-end GPU, there were some good results, managing to shave a couple of degrees in any benchmark/application I had at my disposal.

On graphic cards that are power-hungry or heat up a lot, you might get even better results than mine. And in some scenarios you can actually get better performance just by undervolting, without overclocking. Just because your average GPU clockspeed during a benchmark/game will be higher.

At the end of the video, I've also overclocked the undervolted GPU for a consistent 8% increase in performance. For free! Neat!
