Turning a 0-6-0 7 1/4 gauge live steam locomotive on a heavy duty drop-on Scamp turntable. This turntable is designed and made for use as a quick and simple solution to turning locomotives.

Thanks to David Clews for the use of his loco Erin.

The turntables are rated to 150kg. We suspect that this steam loco may weigh more than this so please be aware that if you decide to use the turntables we supply with locos weighing more than 150kg you do so completely at your own risk.

These turntables were conceived originally for the Scamp by its revered designer Colin Edmondson but are equally useful for short wheelbase locos and rolling stock. MRW are delighted to be manufacturing these products in partnership with Colin right here in our Nottinghamshire workshop.

These turntables are based on historic portable turntables used for manual shunting on narrow gauge temporary railways. Thy are extremely versatile and can be placed almost anywhere on a track, allowing locos and rolling stock to be turned in any direction to be moved onto another line, or even simply back in the direction they came. The turntables can also be used as a low cost alternative to a set of points where applicable, making them an excellent tool at the disposal of anyone with a desire to break up rolling stock, load locos and wagons as a one man operation, or simply have fun with their Scamp on a running day!
