I wanted to share another tool for your toolbox to help battle invasive's such as Autumn Olive on your property. December through early March are great times to use the cut stump method for knocking back the invasive's. This method works after spring green up, but is best later in the year when the sap is being drawn back down into the root system. If you try and use the cut stump method in the spring during spring green-up, the herbicide can be flushed/pushed up out of the stump and you won't have an effective kill. It's best to be used on the larger/more mature clusters of autumn olive/privet versus trying the foliar application that will result in a lot of overspray and wasted herbicide.
