Mother Roza Czacka brought modern education methods and in 1911 opened a school for the blind. She adapted Polish phonetics into the Braille alphabet that ended becoming standard in all schools for the blind. Roza entered the Franciscan Third Order in 1917 taking the name Sr. Elżbieta before founding the Franciscan Sisters Servants of the Cross.
