Koshigaya's summer tradition, which attracts approximately 700,000 visitors, is the "Minami-Koshigaya Awa Odori."

This event is celebrated as one of Japan's three major Awa Odori festivals, alongside the original in Tokushima and the one in Tokyo's Koenji.

The festival offers a variety of performances, including the "Nagashi Odori," where dancers form a line and move down the street, the "Butai Odori," where dancers showcase their skills on stage, and the "Kumi Odori," where each troupe expresses its individuality through unique formations and musical accompaniments.

Over three days, including the eve of the festival, the entire city is immersed in the spirit of Awa Odori, with around 6,000 dancers from both inside and outside the city and approximately 700,000 spectators filling the streets.

This year's Awa Odori was unexpectedly interrupted by a sudden downpour. However, I was deeply moved by the dancers and musicians who continued to perform with passion despite the rain. Their vitality was truly inspiring.
