The more we hear something, the more likely we are to believe it's true - even if it's false. In this talk, Krishnni Khanna reveals how repetition can manipulate our minds. She also gives insight on how to overcome the "illusory truth effect" phenomenon. Krishnni Khanna, a high school junior, overcame peer shaming as an Indian immigrant, inspiring her to start "Detoximind" in 2022 for stressed and isolated youth, now in four countries. Aiming for global reach, she's also writing a memoir, "I am Not Who You See," releasing in 2024. Living in Austin, Texas, with her family and puppy Yuki, Krishnni explores how repeated lies become one's truth. Drawing on personal and historical examples, research, and literature, her talk examines how misinformation can change beliefs and perspectives, offering strategies to resist this manipulation. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
