Redwood trees can be grown in Norway, atleast in some very favourable locations like the botanical gardens in Bergen. Here at latitude 60 North you would not expect to find trees native to California, US - but the Gulf Stream makes it possible. The ocean current brings warm waters from the Gulf of Mexico, across the Atlantic Ocean, and creates a very mild climate along the western coast of Norway relative to the latitude.
