起風了 (嗶哩嗶哩11周年演講) (Live)
The Wind Rises (BILIBILI 11th Anniversary Speech Celebration)

Description:
The song “The Wind Rises” was based on “Yakimochi”, the theme song of the Japanese series “Shinya Shokudo 3”. It was composed, written and sung by the Japanese singer Takahashi Yu. A female singer in China with an online username of “La Jian” and her friends really loved the tune to this Japanese song, and wrote Chinese lyrics and rearranged it into “The Wind Rises”. It was released as an EP on 2 February 2017, however was removed not long after due to copyright issues.

Due to the high quality of the song, NetEase Cloud Music aided in obtaining official authorisation from the Japanese copyright owner and Takahashi Yu’s production team.

Takahashi was impressed by and really liked the rearrangement of “The Wind Rises”, giving high appraisals to La Jian (買辣椒也用券), who travelled to Japan and recorded the song under guidance from Takahashi’s team. Takahashi also provided useful advice and encouragement to La Jian. The entire planning and production phase took two months. Takahashi acted as the executive supervisor, and his team did the rearrangement and recording. Eventually the song was released again on 3 December 2018.

The version sung by Wu Tsing-fong was a TV series theme song, which was authorised by the original Japanese singer, and released digitally in January, 2019.

The first time when Zhou Shen tried to sing “The Wind Rises” was on 3 May 2018, on the Ximalaya radio show “Magical Prince Zhou Shen is Here!”. During the show he couldn’t find the correct key or the beat into the song, struggling the whole way and apologising the whole time, but still tried his best to finish the entire song.

The second performance was during a media arranged live interview, where the audiences asked and he sang the chorus part a capella. In the same year, on the 29th of September during his birthday streaming, he satisfied the fans’ wish and sang the entire song of “The Wind Rises”. At this time he was still slightly unfamiliar with the song, but it did not affect his degree of completion. He asked himself: “How does the next part go again?”, but immediately started singing accurately. After this, many fans’ commented and wished that Zhou Shen would sing it again on a formal stage.

On 27 January 2019, Zhou Shen posted a short video clip “The Wind Also Rises in the Corridor” on TikTok of him singing in the corridor. The comment section was full of envious fans saying that even the corridor could hear such beautiful singing from Zhou Shen.

Finally, on 26 June 2020 at the BILIBILI 11th Anniversary Speech Celebration, Sheng Mi received a full stage version of “The Wind Rises”, which was formally released on musical platforms on the 3rd of September.

"晚風吹起你鬢間的白髮
撫平回憶留下的疤
你的眼中 明暗交雜 一笑生花
The evening breeze blows the white hair at your temples
healing the scars left by our memories
In your eyes, light and shade weave together; flowers bloom as you smile"
