TRIVIA: Secret Agent X-9 began as a comic strip syndicated in newspapers by King Features in 1934. It was created by hard-boiled detective writer Dashiell Hammett and artist Alex Raymond, the hand behind Jungle Jim and Flash Gordon. Universal Pictures adapted it for a cliffhanger in 1937 and again in 1945.
