Jean Grey / Phoenix has had 3 different themes over the course of the 18 year X-Men franchise.

The first, appeared in X2 (2003), composed by John Ottman. It was a somewhat romantic, melodic theme that grew more and more powerful, occasionally even becoming dark. Just like the character of Jean in X2.

The second theme was heard in X-Men: The Last Stand (2006), composed by John Powell. This one was also melodic, romantic and had a middle-eastern style cue that could be played in a sweet, romantic way, or in a dark, evil way. I didn't use the darker versions of this theme in this suite, as this suite is to represent Jean Grey as Phoenix, not Dark Phoenix. I will be doing a Dark Phoenix version of this suite also.

The third version of Jean Grey's theme is heard in X-Men: Apocalypse (2016), again composed by John Ottman, who decided to write a new theme for the younger, more vulnerable version of Jean. The first 4 notes of Jean Grey's theme have a kind of western vibe to them. They are exactly the same as the first 4 notes of Ennio Morricone's 'The Ecstacy Of Gold'. This theme is played in soft, vulnerable ways or in strong, inspiring ways.

With the legendary Hans Zimmer composing the score for X-Men: Dark Phoenix (2019), one can only imagine what kind of theme he will write for Jean Grey as Dark Phoenix. (If the film ever sees the light of day).

The songs used in this suite are:

You Can See - John Ottman
A Piece Of His Past - John Ottman
You're X-Men / End Titles - John Ottman
Goodbye - John Ottman
Whirlpool Of Love - John Powell
Suite From X2 - John Ottman
Like A Fire - John Ottman
