While Frank Pepe's in New Haven, CT may be a well-known establishment, Sally's Apizza is equally well-known to pizza enthusiasts. Pizza fans, particularly those who are fans of the best New Haven apizza, know that the Frank Pepe's vs Sally's Apizza rivalry is a fierce one, and as the restaurants are just down the street from each other everyone has an opinion on which is better, Pepe's or Sally's.

Sally's Apizza was founded by a former employee at Frank Pepe's, but Sally's is not just a clone of Pepe's. Sally's Apizza features a thinner pie, one more evenly thin as opposed to a typical pizza pie with a raised outer crust. Both share some similarities though. Both are coal-fired oven pizzas and both are known for their incredible charred crispy edges. There is no real right or wrong answer as to which is better, Sally's or Pepe's, but I will at least offer my personal opinion!

We try a few items from the Sally's Apizza menu, the Sally's classic tomato sauce pie, the mozzarella and cheese pie, and the potato and rosemary pie. Which will we like most? And is Sally's the best pizza in New Haven? We shall see!
