July 7th 2022 was World International Kiswahili Day and as always jointly with MTM Awards and Bristol Black Carers an evening like no other made history in the River Room of the House of Lords by organising the first ever KISWAHILI DAY at this historic building. Attended by H E the High Commissioner of the United Republic of Tanzania Mama Asha-Rose Migiro and a host of representatives from other diplomatic missions in London and hosted by Baroness Sandy Verma.
It was an evening of Swahili dance and culture - Mombasa Roots provided a video link of their infamous Disco Cha Ka Cha - also appearing was veteran Swahili-Hindi ICON Rahi Bains and Di Namite through video link- a young 12 year old sensation.
Young Raquel played acover of Malaika by Fadhili William on a violin!
Key-Note Speaker on the night was Swahili Translator and author Ali Attas based in Japan.
