The bog wetlands are one of the last remaining wild habitats in Ireland. Steeped in local myths and legends, this unique landscape has a rich history in Irish art, literature and culture.

This unique ecosystem is home to a number of rare plant and animal species, found nowhere else. But over the past two centuries 90% of Irish bogs have disappeared and have been exploited for their natural resources.

The Ethnographer sat down with photographer Tina Claffey and discussed the future of this valuable and endangered wilderness. Her photography seeks to bring awareness and to reimagine this cultural space as a place of outstanding natural beauty.
