Join me as I return to Thailand for the second time this year, this time exploring the vibrant city of Bangkok in June, after spending January up north in Chiang Mai. Thailand often takes the spotlight in Southeast Asia, and for good reason—it offers something for everyone, from young backpackers to retirees. But what about its neighbor to the south, Malaysia?

Earlier this year, I spent about 5 weeks in Malaysia, and I noticed some fascinating differences between these two countries that I had to share. From religion and alcohol policies to the street food scene and the prevalence of English, there are so many unique aspects to both Thailand and Malaysia.

In this video, I dive into:

1. Religion: Buddhism in Thailand vs. Islam in Malaysia.
2. Alcohol: The cost and availability in each country.
3. Marijuana: Thailand’s recent legalization and its cultural impact.
4. Backpackers: How each country caters to budget travelers.
5. Multiculturalism: The diverse ethnic makeup of Malaysia.
6. Language: The prevalence of English in Malaysia compared to Thailand.
7. Food: Comparing street food scenes and hawker centers.

Whether you’re planning a solo backpacking trip or a more laid-back vacation, I hope my insights help you decide which destination might be best for you. Both Thailand and Malaysia offer incredible experiences, and I can’t wait to share more about them with you.

If you enjoyed this video, don’t forget to like, comment, and subscribe! And let me know in the comments—have you been to Thailand or Malaysia? What was your experience like?
