LP2 member Linda Anstendig will interview Jeff Goodell about his provocative new book, The Heat Will Kill You First:  Life and Death on a Scorched Planet. Both as a journalist and author, Jeff Goodell has closely and provocatively examined the wide-ranging impact of climate change for more than two decades. The Heat Will Kill You First:  Life and Death on a Scorched Planet has been widely praised; the Washington Post noted that it “lives up to its alarming title” in “documenting the terrifying fragility of human bodies in a burning world.” The New York Times called it a “propulsive book” that “documents the lethal effects of rising temperatures and argues that we need to take hot weather a lot more seriously.”

Jeff Goodell is a Senior Fellow at the Adrienne Arsht-Rockefeller Foundation Resilience Center and a 2020 Guggenheim Fellow. He has been a contributing editor at Rolling Stone since 1995, and he continues to appear on many TV networks as an expert commentator on climate and energy issues. His 2002 book, Our Story, an account of nine miners trapped in a Pennsylvania coal mine, was a New York Times bestseller.

This webinar is the last in the Fall 2023 speaker series Fridays@1, organized by the Lifelong Peer Learning Program (LP2).
