B 36 Peacemaker: Largest Mass Produced Piston Engined Plane Ever Built
The B-36 “Peacemaker” was the most important bomber in the Strategic Air Command’s arsenal. These monstrous bombers were the first US bombers designed to carry nuclear weapons without special modifications and they had the capacity to deliver enormous payloads across the entire planet: all while evading most traditional anti aircraft weaponry and radar detection. The B-36 also holds the world record for the longest wingspan of any combat aircraft ever made, and it also featured a unique propulsion system that looks completely backwards. The B-36 only reigned for 9 years but it was one of the most important planes ever built, so join us as we explore the Convair B-36 “Peacemaster.”
