In Season 1 of The Old Man, Dan Chase, a former CIA operative, has been living in hiding for decades after a mission in Afghanistan went awry. His quiet life is disrupted when assassins are sent to kill him, forcing him to go on the run. As Chase evades capture, FBI Assistant Director Harold Harper is brought in to lead the manhunt due to his past connection with Chase.
The season explores Chase’s survival instincts as he navigates deadly threats, while flashbacks reveal his complicated past involving an Afghan warlord and his love for a woman named Abbey. Along the way, Chase is aided by his dogs and a woman named Zoe, whom he takes hostage but eventually forms a bond with. Harper, torn between duty and loyalty, must confront his own history with Chase.
As the chase intensifies, it becomes clear that powerful forces want Chase eliminated due to secrets from his past. The season ends on a cliffhanger, with Chase’s daughter, who was presumed dead, playing a crucial role in the unfolding conspiracy.
