To improve sanitary conditions for families in urban settlements, Habitat for Humanity Paraguay mounts a yearly fundraising campaign called “Health for Water.”
Currently the organization has obtained funding for 133 families in Luque and is building modern bathrooms to replace latrines and precariously built facilities. These new bathrooms have tiles, fixtures and suitable connections ensuring better hygiene.
An innovation this year is the installation of biodigesters that function as septic tanks to avoid contaminating water tables, since the terrain where bathrooms are built can flood and requires a suitable construction.
