Diuretics are the drugs that increase urine output and help in treating mild to moderate hypertension by reducing volume of the plasma and thus venous return to the heart.1 The aim of the study was to screen the diuretic activity of given test drug. Furosemide is a loop diuretic and acts by inhibiting sodium-potassium-chloride co-transporter. It increases urine output with increase in concentration sodium, potassium and chloride in urine. It plays an important role in relieving hypertension.
