Guilford County EMS Paramedic Dale James demonstrates the steps of the Applicant Physical Agility Test.
The candidate has 14 minutes to perform all of the tasks shown in the video. The time starts when the applicant opens the door to get out of the cab of the truck and stops when seated in the captain’s chair at the head of the stretcher.
The candidate must demonstrate that they are able to lift a 165 pound dummy with the amount of assistance shown in the video. While moving the patient (on either the stretcher, backboard or stair chair) the candidate is expected to remain at the head of the dummy.
If you have any questions about the process, please contact Guilford County Emergency Services Human Resources at (336)641-6557.
