Intercropping is very successful in September planted sugarcane. In this video, we have suggested to the farmers of North Punjab about the combined sowing of potato and sugarcane during the 1st week of October instead of September. Kroda variety of potato may be selected for this purpose. We have suggested to sow sugarcane an the alternate furrows made at a distance of 2.25 feet. For weed management, Dual gold Syngenta S metolachlor @ 800 ml/acre may be sprayed one day after planting. Additional use of phosphorus and potash has been recommended to induce earliness in the potato crop. This immature crop of potato may be harvested during the mid of December which may fetch high price.
