In this video I'm going to show you guys what I think just might be the perfect JBOD SAS expander board! This is a board from a Dell enterprise storage system with Dell P/N 6TDVN or 5R10N. This is a SAS-2 expander board with 24-internal SAS lanes (in 6x SFF8087 ports) and 12-external SAS lanes (in 3x SFF8088 ports). We'll take a close look at this board and talk about it's features, as well the problem with powering on this board. I will also demonstrate a proof of concept build on how to use this board for building your own JBOD DAS disk enclosure chassis.
