The problem used in this tutorial is as follows: 'The height of the slope is 8 m. Joint A has the orientation of 40/060; Joint B has the orientation of 70/320. The slope face is oriented as 60/037. The upper face of the slope has 10/037. The joint surface friction is 35 with the cohesion of 0. The density of rock mass is 2.6 t/m3. Determine the safety factor'. Estimate the slope stability of this rock mass.
For slope stability analysis of wedge failure (Swedge, Rocscience) it is important to know the dip and dip direction of the two planes/joints that form the wedge, and the strength characteristics along those joints (friction angle and cohesion). This tutorial shows how to use this data to estimate the safety factor.
