The Beatles are one of, if not the most heralded band of all time. It's often assumed that everyone knows why and has heard their music but what if you haven't? Maybe you've never heard them before and you want to understand the hype or maybe you want to be able to accurately argue that they're overrated, whatever you reason for needing a starting place for getting into the Beatles this list will give some excellent gateway songs into the Fab Four.
As I put this list together I tried to have a good variety of the different sounds of The Beatles as well as try to grab tracks from different albums and eras. Another thing is that I left out the really cliche songs that you hear more often than any others. So you won't be hearing things like Let It Be, Hey Jude, Here Comes The Sun, Yesterday, or Blackbird because those are played all the time and are some of the most covered songs in the world.
So here are 12 songs by The Beatles that will give you a good start to understanding the Beatles discography.
