Deeply rooted in the community of Wat Svay Andet, a Buddhist monastery in Kandal Province, the Lkhon Khol is sometimes performed as entertainment, but mainly serves a ritual purpose.
Lkhon Khol Wat Svay Andet was inscribed on the UNESCO List of Intangible Cultural Heritage in Need of Urgent Safeguarding on 28 November 2018.
