The pita is a plant with large, fleshy leaves that grows spontaneously and abundantly on the Canary Island of Fuerteventura. Among all the uses that the majoreros have made of this shrub is the manufacture of ropes and other articles for agricultural uses from the fibers of its leaves. Antonio Cabrera knew this work well and in 1998 he went out to collect some leaves to make a piece of rope or tomiza.
