Guinea-Bissau is a tiny country in the western part of Africa and has a population of about 1.8 million people. The country was colonized by the Portuguese and at the time it was simply known as Guinea. Bissau was added to the name of the country in 1974 to differentiate it from French Guinea. There are over 30 ethnic groups in Guinea Bissau.
