JR East's E217 series is mainly active on the Yokosuka Line and Sobu Rapid Line, and has a history of operation on the Tokaido Line and Shonan-Shinjuku Line, but from December 2020, the new model Skarange...instead of the E235 series 1000 series will be introduced. In response to the start of this, scrapped vehicle processing has started from January 2021.
All of the E217 series that have been scrapped are currently being dismantled, but at one point a plan was arose to transfer them to PT Kereta Commuter Indonesia (KCI), which operates commuter trains in the Jakarta metropolitan area of Indonesia. However, in the end, that plan was scrapped.
Doesn't China have something to do with this, just like the high-speed rail (Whoosh) plan? I tend to think that, but in reality, that is not the case.
