The washer pumps are used in windscreen cleaning systems and are required for cleaning the front and rear windscreens on demand. These functions can either be covered by single outlet pumps or a dual outlet pump. If a dual outlet pump is used, both the windscreen and the rear window are supplied by means of a single pump with a reversible direction of rotation.

The dual outlet pump has an integrated non-return valve. This prevents the long hose pipe (leading to the rear window) from emptying when the pump is switched off. HELLA offers mono washer pumps for the windscreen and also dual pumps to incorporate the rear windscreen wiper system.
Possible error causes
The following causes can be responsible for a malfunctioning of the windscreen cleaning system or for the failure of the wiper washer pump:

➔ Electrical connection or power supply faulty
➔ Electric motor jammed or defective
➔ Pump housing mechanically damaged by external impactor frost
➔ Hose pipes damaged or contaminated
➔ Wash tank mechanically damaged or contaminated
➔ Washing water contaminated by unsuitable cleaning agents
➔ Seal between pump and tank leaking or defective
➔ Windscreen cleaning nozzle or non-return valvecontaminated or defective.
