The wedge is a unique club in your bag because we need to be able to hit shots a wide variety of distances. Many amateurs rely completely on feel, but in today's video I'm going to share the Clock System, a simple yet effective method to control your wedge distances with precision.

Using a 56-degree wedge, I'll demonstrate how to hit quarter, half, three-quarter, and full swings to cover distances from 25 to 100 yards. By understanding these key positions and practicing them, you'll gain confidence in your wedge play and improve your scoring ability.

To hit your wedge different distances, we're going to vary the length of your backswing. I have four different swing lengths that I use:

**Quarter Swing**: Shaft parallel to the ground
**Half Swing**: Left arm parallel to the ground
**Three-Quarter Swing**: Left arm goes back to about 10:30 on the clock
**Full Swing**: Just what it sounds like

These 4 options for each wedge in your bag will give you lots of "stock" distances to rely on when you're facing different length shots on the course. You can also further divide your own swing into additional lengths to have even more options.

We’ll also discuss the importance of using a rangefinder to dial in your yardages and why having a wedge with advanced technology can make a significant difference in your short game.
