Ernakulam Market is the oldest trading center in Kochi. It is about 150 years old. Friday and Monday week days are market days and all major traders of the state come here. Most of the traders who do business here are from outside the district. There are those who have been trading in it for decades. The stationery trade is mostly done by people from Kunnakulam in Trissur District. Mainly Market offers vegetables, hardware, cloth, stationery, fish, meat, etc., and has more than 2000 stalls in this market. A canal was connected from Kochi Backwater to the inside of this market. In ancient times, this was a canal that connected the market with the outside world. Until 1990, country boats used to come to this canal to unload goods and take the goods from here to different parts of Kerala. But today it is useless.
