In this "What If...?" Dark comic series, the story explores an alternate timeline where Spider-Man dies instead of Gwen Stacy. After Gwen saves Peter from falling off the bridge, he still dies later due to an accident. Gwen decides to take on Spider-Man's identity but realizes she lacks superpowers. She enlists Harry Osborn's help to stop the Green Goblin, but tragedy strikes when Harry accidentally kills his father, the Goblin. Gwen briefly retires but ultimately dons the Spider-Man suit again to stop Harry as he takes up his father's legacy.
