We visited South Park Inn warming center in Hartford on March 20, 2024 and talked with staff and guests to get a sense of what it's like to work on the ground at a nonprofit.

South Park Inn's warming center opens during winter months each day from 7:00 p.m. until 7:00 a.m. to provide relief for people experiencing homelessness. The warming center offers a safe place with food, showers, beds, and other necessities. Staff attempt to help guests find permanent shelter, and address their other needs. Our visit occurred ten days before the warming center closed for the season.
