As already announced in the previous video, Beilngries offers a detour to the medieval town of Berching, the Rothenburg of the Upper Palatinate.

Of course, we do not want to miss out on this experience and drive along the Main-Danube Canal to the famous monastery Plankstetten. Plankstetten has earned itself the reputation of an "eco-monastery" through its ecological businesses.

A tour of the well-preserved city wall with its towers in Berching is highly recommended. One feels transported back to the Middle Ages.
Again and again pictures and figures emerge from a pike in a birdcage. Why, why? We were able to reveal this secret and like to tell you about it in the video.

Then we go back to Beilngries and continue through the Altmühltal to Kottingwörth.

The Kottingwörther parish church of St. Vitus, is also called because of their imposing twin towers "The small cathedral in the Altmühltal". It belongs with its Vituskapelle to the art-historically valuable places.

In Dietfurt it`s cozy. The Chinese summer festival invites you to linger. Again, the question arises; Why does the Siebentäler Dietfurt celebrate a Chinese summer festival? We listened to each other .......

We can not stay and drive on to Mühlbach. Between Meihern and Riedenburg, the cycle path partially leaves the Danube-Main Canal and also leads past so-called old waters.

In Oberhofen was a rural Early Celtic settlement from the beginning of the 5th Jhs. v. Reconstructed.

It is one of the largest archeological park in Europe, which consists of 18 stations between Dietfurt and Kelheim on a route of 39 km mostly on the Altmühltal cycle path and is accessible free of charge.

According to: http://www.berching.de/schifffahrt/
The shipping between Berching and Beilngries was unfortunately discontinued from 2018. The ships only depart from Riedenburg to Kelheim or Kelheim-Weltenburg.
An attempt is made to find a new shipping company for the 2019 season.

At the mighty lock Riedenburg we change to the other side of the river.

At the foot of the Rosenburg, the landmark of the city of Riedenburg, we spend the night at the campsite.

For today we say goodbye, soon here in Altmühltal.
Then it's on the Altmühltalradweg to Essing and Kelheim.

Until then, stay healthy and alert. We look forward to your continued support.
